Pioneer Aerial Bundled Cable

Overview

An ABC Cable (Aerial Bundled Conductor Cable) is a type of overhead power distribution cable that consist of multiple XLPE insulated conductor bundled together. This cable reduces the risk of electrical accidents, sparks and short circuits from touching of wires due to tree branching. Swaging of bamboo plant and accidental hit of poles by vehicles. It is used for power distribution to domestic consumers and for street lighting circuit. There are two types of ABC Cables:

i) Self Supported

ii) Messenger Supported.

Self Supported

In Self Supported the 4 cores are bundled together and the load is carried by all the cores equally.

Self Supported

Messenger Supported

In Messenger Supported the 3 phase Aluminium insulated cores areessentially laid over an Insulated Aluminium Alloy conductor and the entire load is borne by the Messenger. Hence special care has to be taken while hinging the cable during overhead laying.

Messenger Supported
